What is the difference between a mobile app and a mobile website?
Basically, a mobile website is a version of your desktop website optimized for use on smaller screens and touch input methods on mobile devices such as tablets or phones. Access is via a web browser, just like a desktop device, and requires an active internet connection.
Mobile apps, on the other hand, give you access to the same data and content available on the corresponding website.
What sets them apart, however, is the extra functionality they can provide even when they’re not connected to the internet.
A good example is Google Maps, the site is completely reliant on an internet connection, and the mobile app allows you to download maps to view offline, save favorites, and more.
